Loft Extension & Bespoke Joinery
This project explores how careful spatial planning and bespoke joinery can make constrained spaces feel generous, functional and calm.
Within the loft, the sloping roof and limited head height were treated as opportunities rather than restrictions. A long bespoke desk is integrated beneath the window, making use of the full width of the space while creating a generous place to work in natural light. Storage is absorbed into the surrounding joinery, allowing the room to remain visually quiet despite working hard functionally.
A compact sink area is similarly resolved through built-in cabinetry, with simple proportions and a restrained palette of timber and neutral finishes bringing warmth and continuity to the space.
On the floor below, the bedroom continues the approach to making limited space work harder. The bed is raised within bespoke joinery to incorporate substantial concealed storage beneath, while shelving and cabinetry are integrated around it rather than introduced as separate pieces of furniture.
Across both spaces, the aim was not simply to maximise storage, but to make every element feel considered and integral to the room — creating a sense of ease and generosity within a limited footprint.
